Ex-Asda CEO Roger Burnley joins Pets at Home board

// Former Asda CEO Roger Burnley is joining Pets at Home as an independent non-executive director

Pets at Home has named former Asda boss Roger Burnley CBE as an independent non-executive director, effective from 14 February 2023.

On his appointment to the board of the pet retailer, Roger will be appointed as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee, Remuneration Committee, Nomination and Corporate Governance Committee and the ESG Committee.

Burnley is an experienced retailer who spent ten years as an executive director of Sainsbury’s before joining Asda as its Chief Operating Officer in 2016, becoming chief executive in 2017. 

He left Asda in August 2021 after four years as chief executive and was appointed CBE in the 2022 New Year Honours list for services to the food supply chain.

In 2022, he also took on the position of non-executive chairman of Irish food manufacturer Finnbrogue Artisan.
