Asda’s Issa brothers target Fat Face boss to lead George label

The Issa brothers are reportedly considering targeting the chief executive of Fat Face, Liz Evans to run Asda’s fashion label, George.

Evans has led Fat Face since 2018 and would replace George’s previous director Steph Strike who resigned earlier this year – should she take up the role, Lancashire Telegraph reported.

She has previously run the Oasis and Warehouse brands as well as several roles at Marks & Spencer, before emerging as the leading candidate for George’s new chief executive.

“George has been a crucial part of the Asda family and continues to be a key part of our strategy,” Asda chief executive Roger Burnley said.

“George is the second-largest retailer of clothing in the UK by volume, and has a vibrant and growing home offer that attracts customers to our stores and online.

“Our new owners, and investors, clearly recognise the value and strategic importance of the George brand to our total business and we will continue to invest in its success.”

This comes after the Issa brothers revealed that they are not planning to sell George but are instead aiming to attract younger shoppers.

If Evans’ appointment is confirmed, she will join several other new members of the Asda top management team appointed by Mohsin and Zuber Issa since their takeover.
