Berghaus has launched its first standalone shop in the North West at Manchester Arndale shopping centre.
The new site is more than a “traditional retail store”, serving as a “gateway to the outdoors” and a community hub, according to the brand.
Marking the store launch, Berghaus hosted a week-long programme that reflected “the spirit of the new space and the people it’s been built for”.
On its opening day (26 August), an official ribbon cutting ceremony was hosted by the company’s co-founder Peter Lockey and its brand ambassadors Sir Chris Bonington and Ed Jackson.
A DJ takeover was held at the shop on Friday (28 August) and the retailer teamed up with Manchester local business Bada Bing on the Saturday (29 August) to serve 50 limited-edition crisp sandwiches to shoppers.
The store served as the starting point for a community walk across the city on the Sunday (30 August) in partnership with City Daze.
Pentland Brands EMEA president Franck Denglos previously commented on the launch: “Sixty years after Berghaus was founded in the North of England, opening our first standalone store in the North West feels like a natural homecoming.
“As a bold, outdoor and British brand, we’re excited to put down roots in Manchester and connect with consumers in one of the UK’s most vibrant retail destinations.
“Manchester Arndale’s scale, energy and reach make it the perfect stage for the next chapter of the Berghaus story.”
