FatFace has appointed a new chief financial officer as it seeks to invest in its leadership team.

Mike Rainer is due to join the business in November as head of finance, succeeding Will Crumbie, who has become the lifestyle fashion retailer’s chief executive in September.

Crumbie took the helm when previous chief executive Liz Evans left to join Asda’s George clothing business as managing director.

Rainer has previously worked with Theo Paphitis Retail Group as group chief financial officer.

He is also a former managing director of Eat and the chief financial officer of Blue Inc and has held senior roles at Mothercare and Selfridges.

In March, FatFace sparked fury after asking customers to keep a major hack “confidential”.

The retailer asked customers to keep news of a hack “strictly confidential” after warning them their personal details may have been stolen.

FatFace emailed customers informing them that their names, email addresses, postal addresses and partial card details may have been exposed in a cyber-attack.
