FashionNews

Family maternity brand Mamas & Papas has opened its third store in the Greater Manchester area as it seeks to capitalise on the city‘s ‘baby-boom‘.

The two-story store, which opened this morning, concentrates on children‘s clothing, toys and baby equipment.

The brand, which counts Gwen Stefani amongst its celebrity fans, is hot on the heels of Mothercare and is aiming to be one of the biggest global brands in nursery in five years. It is plotting to open 90 stores in China over the next five years.

The baby boom sweeping Greater Manchester has quickly exceeded the predicted 33,650 babies and is expected to reach the 37,852 born in 2012.

Mamas & Papas Retail Director Marek Laskowski said: “We are continuing to see a growing urban society and young families are starting to become a feature of central Manchester again. City living can be great but you need the right products for raising a family in such a busy environment. We have spent the last five years focusing on the needs of urban living so all our new ranges meets the requirement for highly designed, lightweight and compact baby equipment.”
