Ocado is to announce that it has come together with global product development and technology consultancy Cambridge Consultants, to transform warehouse automation and ultimately make Ocado’s system more efficient.
For the online grocer, this will be a story of business transformation as it seeks to deliver food faster and more accurately than any other player, largely thanks to its warehouse systems built around software.
The new wireless control system will enable the grocery retailer to control and co-ordinate the movements of hundreds of thousands of crates containing millions of grocery items, in real time and in parallel.
It will be a world first from the wireless development team at Cambridge Consultants. What is understood to be a technology breakthrough, has created the most densely packed mobile network in the world.
