The Entertainer’s online sales soar

Toy retailer The Entertainer’s Christmas trading results indicate a promising rise in sales, solidifying its position as the fastest-growing multichannel toy retailer in the UK.

In the five weeks to December 31 the brand posted a total sales increase of 13.5 per cent and a 2.6 per cent increase in like-for-like sales.

Its website, TheToyShop.com, aided this boost in sales with growth of nearly a third year-on-year, seeing its new click-and-collect service growing by a quarter.

“Considering the increase in promotional pressure in the toy category and the later start to the consumer buying period, we’re delighted with this result,” founder and managing director Gary Grant said.

“2016 was a great year for The Entertainer, we ended the year with 15 new store openings in the UK inclusive of our first store in Northern Ireland, further investment into TV advertising and the expansion of our international operation into Cyprus, all designed to underpin our future growth aspirations.”
