Online homewares retailer Amara has hired Maddie Melson to be its first chief customer officer.
Working closely with non-executive director Robin Terrell, Tesco’s former chief customer officer who joined the luxury etailer in November, Melson’s role will focus on refining Amara’s customer journey and support international growth plans by shaping a global customer interaction strategy.
Melson’s career at Figleaves and John Lewis, before she moved House of Fraser in 2010 where she stayed for six years, with her last role there as director of customer insight.
“Amara joins the ranks of progressive retailers who have identified the CCO role as a crucial element of their growth strategy,” Melson said.
”[Its] dedication to developing an exemplary customer experience is demonstrated in this big step for the business.
“It will enable us to engage with and delight our customers, growing the brand both in the UK and internationally.”
Amara said Melson’s appointment as well as Terrell’s in November was the “the start of an ambitious growth phase,” as it plans to grow both internationally and online.
