JD Sports’ £112 million Go Outdoors acquisition given the go-ahead

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has given its approval for JD Sports’ acquisition of apparel retailer Go Outdoors.

JD Sports already owns outdoor clothing brands Blacks, Millets and Tiso forcing the competition watchdog to investigate its £112 million takeover.

However, JD Sports has been given the go-ahead to take control of Go Outdoors‘s 58 store estate across the UK, mostly large scale outfits in retail parks.

“I am pleased with the outcome of the CMA‘s investigation and delighted to welcome Go Outdoors to the JD Group,” JD Sports executive chairman  Peter Cowgill  said.

“Go Outdoors will make an excellent addition to the existing JD Outdoor business and I am confident that it will build upon Blacks‘, Millets‘ and Tiso‘s recent success on the high street and strengthen our consumer proposition within the outdoor sector.”
