Retail Gazette Loves: YEAY

YEAY is an app that aims to tap into the wildly expanding mobile commerce market, predicted to reach a rate of growth 200% faster than ecommerce by 2019.

Its core concept is to allow brands, independents and the average shopper to sell their items by using a short Snapchat-esque video.

Having launched in January the platform already boasts 100,000 users in over 160 countries.

Although it takes just 20 seconds to upload a video, the platform offers a full-scale CMS for established brands who want to sell multiple items.

Unlike other mobile marketplaces YEAY doesn‘t take commission on what clients sell, as the format opens the door to alternative revenue streams like sponsored content or adverts.

Sellers can use text, emojis, static photos and videos to sell whatever they want. There is also no upper limit to what can be sold on the platform.

The founder Melanie Mohr aims to have five million users onboard by the end of the year, and the platform is reportedly already drawing attention from global brands.
