JD Sports has announced plans to open its first gym and retail dual property in Salford later this year.
The £2 million fitness centre is set to open in September, following the launch of its new Salford retail store next month as it seeks to solidify its place in the fitness market.
The retailer already lends its brand name to an expanding JD Gym estate, currently boasting nine gyms throughout the UK with a further four in the works.
However, this will mark the first time its retail and gym businesses will operate in the same site, and if successful, it could lead to more.

According to Retail Week, the two businesses will still run as separate entities despite operating in the same space.
The news comes a week after JD Sports issued a trading update stating its sales were in line with expectations, sending stocks plummeting.
Investors have become used to massive sales growth and positive trading updates, like the 81 per cent rise in annual profits seen in April, which has allowed the company‘s stock to be one of the best performing in recent years.
