The Lexicon Bracknell opens for business

Bracknell‘s new £240 million retail development The Lexicon opened to the public yesterday seeing around 10,000 customers visit by lunch time.

The new development, which Retail Gazette was given exclusive access to ahead of its opening, includes the first brand-new Fenwick store in 14 years, a 12-screen Cineworld with a 4DX screen, and a range of fashion and beauty retailers.

Legal & General Capital developed the retail site alongside Schroder UK Real Estate Fund and Bracknell Forest Council.

“The transformation of Bracknell is one of the most significant town centre regeneration projects to be delivered in the last 25 years,” Legal & General‘s director of investments Laura Mason said.

“The UK needs urban centres that are fit for purpose – supporting long term demographic shifts and economic growth by bringing jobs and homes back into the centre of our cities and better utilising our existing infrastructure.”

Legal & General‘s head of development at Bracknell Simon Russian added: “Bracknell has a focus now that matches its affluence and aspirations. For too long, the town centre underserved the local community but that has now changed with an exciting new scheme.”
