Foot Locker to move into 21,000sq ft flagship

Foot Locker has announced plans to move into its largest ever store in the Liverpool One shopping centre.

The new 21,000sq ft store, situated on South John Street in Liverpool, will be the largest store in Footlocker’s 2500 global estate.

HMV will vacate the premises to make way for the footwear retailer, downsizing to a 13,000sq ft store on the same street.

“Securing Footlocker is a reflection of our strategy of providing visitors with a highly compelling and relevant offer that is unavailable elsewhere,” said Alison Clegg, director of asset management at Grosvenor, which runs Liverpool One.

“Along with the new HMV, the new stores will provide on-trend, exciting offers that further strengthen Liverpool ONE’s great mix of brands.

“An increasing number of retailers including Footlocker, JD Sports, and Nespresso have launched new stores concepts in Liverpool One, an endorsement of their performance and confidence.”

In Foot Locker’s most recently published results, they revealed a comparable sales drop of 3.7 per cent, while total sales on a constant currency basis dropped 2.3 per cent.

Liverpool One enjoyed a record year in 2017, with sales growing three per cent and footfall topping 29 million for the first time.
