Instagram launches shopping tab to Explore page

Instagram has continued to develop its commerce offering as it adds a shopping tab to its Explore page, ahead of the launch of its standalone shopping app.

For the first time users will now be able to scroll through a dedicated feed of shoppable products from numerous sellers.

It will also allow all its sellers to add stickers to their stories for the first time, meaning users can tap on items within stories and link to the sellers account.

The Facebook owned app has been slowly introducing shopping features to its platform in recent months, having launched an update allowing consumers to directly purchase from businesses in March in the UK, following a successful pilot in the US.

A month earlier it launched shoppable adverts, which blend product catalogues with videos and allows users to buy items from the range without having to leave Instagram.

Earlier this month it was also revealed that Instagram is working on a standalone shopping app, aiming to capitalise on the 25 million business accounts it currently boasts.
