Selfridges first retailer to unveil Christmas window displays

Selfridges has once again become the first department store to reveal its Christmas window displays more than two months ahead of the day.

The iconic department store said over 100 staff had worked on the displays in non-stop rotated shifts for the last eight days to prepare the windows.

Its “Selfridges Rocks Christmas” theme now sees its stores in London, Manchester and Birmingham feature more than 85,000 baubles, 200 Christmas trees and 65,000 pieces of paper confetti released from cannons every day.

This follows news at the start of August that Selfridges would become the first retailer on the planet to launch its Christmas range, 145 days before Christmas Day.

“We’ve been opening the doors to our Christmas shop during the summer for years now and have become a real destination for fans of Christmas and festive decorations within and outside the UK,” Selfridges’ Christmas and home buyer Eleanor Gregory said at the time.
