Marks & Spencer has ventured into cheeky territory with the launch of a new “Love Sausage” in time for Valentine’s Day.
The bellwether retailer is marketing it as a sausage that is heart-shaped, “lightly-truffled” and wrapped in bacon.
The Love Sausage is now available in stores, ready to be shared with significant others (or just for yourself) with a price tag of £5.
Are you ready for our Love Sausage? Heart-shaped, lightly-truffled, wrapped in bacon and in store tomorrow. Say it with sausages – tag who you’ll be sharing your Love Sausage with this Valentine's Day! #MyMarksFave pic.twitter.com/VPQi4ENnsn

It’s not part of M&S’s “dine in for two” Valentine’s Day special, though.
M&S has said it would soon make vegan special for Valentine’s Day as well, which the retailer said in a tweet would be a Heartbeet burger. Still no word if it would contain aubergine, though.
Naturally, the Love Sausage has attracted a lot of attention, with social media awash with memes and innuendo. M&S even played along on Twitter.

And yet when I shout if anyone's ready for the Love Sausage, I get escorted off your premises. https://t.co/VEGPXNF2I1

I appear to have written the worst poem in the English language about the Marks & Spencer love sausage pic.twitter.com/o9GwhjmP1y
