Retail Gazette Loves: Adidas’ Game of Thrones collection

Beloved sports brand Adidas is especially known for its popular collaborations, the most recent one being with binge-worthy TV show Game of Thrones.

An upcoming collection from the sportswear retailer and brand features six limited-edition Ultraboost sneakers – each representing one of the houses from Game of Thrones.

The limited edition trainers will hit UK shelves tomorrow on March 22 – just before the final series of the show is released – and will be priced at £160.

Each of the six trainers are designed to resemble the different warring factions of Westeros – the fictional land where Game of Thrones is set.

Other features include the factions’ sigil on the tongue and motto on the heel tag.

The trainers are also designed to represent the characteristics, colours and details of the heroes and villains to which they refer.

As well as displaying Game of Thrones features, the shoes include Adidas’ signature Boost midsole technology which includes lightweight performance.

“Collaborations with franchises like Game of Thrones are part of our DNA,” Adidas running general manager Alberto Uncini Manganelli said.

Adidas “When brands and television series alike are able to move beyond their primary platform and spill into popular culture, we see inspiration.

“The project is yet another example of our open source strategy by which we treat our most iconic silhouettes as a canvas upon which we can tell a story.”
