Retail Gazette Loves: John Lewis supporting parents-to-be

John Lewis has unveiled an initiative where expectant parents will benefit from a two year partnership between itself and the National Childbirth Trust (NCT), the UK’s leading charity for parents.

Through the partnership, parents-to-be who attend NCT Antenatal Courses will receive a John Lewis offer in the famous NCT gift pack.

They’ll be able to take advantage of free nursery advice from a specially trained John Lewis staff member, and offers worth £70 at one of  the 42 John Lewis shops which have a nursery advice service.

When expectant parents attend a nursery advice appointment at John Lewis they will be given a free Jellycat cuddly toy worth £9, a £50 voucher to spend in the shop when they spend £500 on nursery and baby products, as well as vouchers to enjoy free drinks and cake.

John Lewis stock over 14,000 nursery and babywear products, including own brand nursery furniture, bedding and babywear, as well as other popular brands.

“Both NCT and John Lewis & Partners have been helping new parents for many years, so this feels like the perfect partnership to help expectant parents across the country,” John Lewis fashion buying director Christine Kasoulis said.

“Like our nursery advice partners, NCT are trusted to provide impartial information through their classes and courses.”

NCT Head of Partnerships Caroline Star said: “We are delighted to announce our new partnership with John Lewis & Partners, which will help us reach more parents in their first 1000 days.

“Our Antenatal Courses reach nearly 100,000 new parents each year, helping them form support networks and life-long friendships.”

In 2019 John Lewis gave advice to more than 12,500 expectant parents who booked nursery advice appointments with the retailer.

Every year NCT supports approximately two million parents and runs 6300 antenatal courses with 95,500 parents.
