The Very Group has appointed BBC’s former digital platforms director Matt Grest as its chief information officer.
Slated to begin on December 21, Grest will report directly to The Very Group chief executive Henry Birch and will also be part of the retail company’s executive board.
Grest’s remit will be to lead The Very Group’s 350-strong technology team.

He previously worked as director of digital platforms at the BBC where he oversaw the transformation of the public broadcaster’s digital and broadcast products into an integrated tech platform.
Prior to that, he was digital platform director at Sky.
“Matt is a talented technologist and leader, with a track record for driving strong performance through tech and new ways of working,” Birch said.
“Under his stewardship, I am confident we will continue to deliver the platforms we need to support our ambitions and make changes to the customer experience faster than ever before.”
