As previously announced in January, Joules’ outgoing chief financial officer Marc Dench will step down from his position on the board next month.

After this, he will remain available to the retailer in a consultancy capacity to ensure a smooth transition.

In the period between Dench standing down from the board and York joining Joules, the retailer will appoint Jon Dargie, currently the finance controller, as interim chief financial officer.

“We are delighted that Caroline is going to be our next CFO and I am looking forward to working closely with her to deliver the next chapter of Joules’ long-term growth and development,” Joules chief executive Nick Jones said.

“I have no doubt that Caroline’s extensive understanding of digital and brand-led businesses will be of great value to Joules moving forward.”

Joules non-executive chairman Ian Filby said: “Caroline’s extensive experience in senior finance roles at strong consumer brands and digital-led businesses made her the stand-out candidate for the role.

“I would like to reiterate our thanks to Marc for his significant contribution to Joules during his time with the group and his commitment to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.”

York said: “Joules is a brand I have long admired and I am delighted to be joining as the group’s new CFO.

“The business has a very exciting future with significant opportunities to expand the brand and continue to develop its first-class digital proposition.

“I am looking forward to joining the team and helping the business to continue create value for all stakeholders.”
