Aldi has announced that its stores across England and Wales will open 30 minutes earlier for browsing every Sunday, to give football fans time to stock up on food during the Euros.

The German discounter said the earlier opening times will start this Sunday, ahead of England’s Euro 2020 match against Croatia.

It said the early Sunday opening time will continue throughout the summer to also give shoppers across the UK chance to visit their local store at a quieter time.

Aldi said its stores in Scotland will retain their usual 8am opening hours on a Sunday, in line with Scottish Sunday trading regulations.

“We can’t wait for the football to kick off this weekend and want to help our customers enjoy the tournament as much as possible,” Aldi UK communications director Richard Thornton.

“Opening earlier will give fans more time to stock up on the great quality Aldi bargains they need to enjoy the football.”
