HMV has opened a new “fan-focused” store at the Merry Hill shopping centre in Dudley.

The store, which is a relocation for HMV, is designed to cater for pop culture lovers and stocks music, film, TV and a massive range of merchandise for collectors.

The 6,738sq ft shop is also a haven for vinyl fans, with 4,700 different vinyl albums stocked.

The first customers that made a purchase when the store opened on Thursday last week received a free pop culture swag bag.

Shoppers at Merry Hill can also use the ‘HMV delivers’ service, which allows customers to order any items not in store to be delivered direct to their door.

Merry Hill centre manager Jonathan Poole said: “HMV is a firm-favourite among shoppers at Merry Hill and their new store really fits with our ambition of bringing the most dynamic brands to the centre.

“What visitors will notice is how fun the store is to visit, you get to experience the entertainment world from all angles including collectibles, a large vinyl selection, figures, merchandise and much more.

HMV was bought out of administration in 2019 by Doug Putman, the chief executive of Canadian retailer Sunrise Records.

Putman has been slowly rebuilding HMV’s store estate. He set a target of opening 10 stores last year and said there was scope to grow HMV’s 107 shops to 150 in the UK.
