Iceland’s Richard Walker and Fragrance Shop’s Sanjay Vadera on Queen’s Birthday Honours list

Iceland managing director Richard Walker and The Fragrance Shop chief executive Sanjay Vadera are among the retailers honoured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Walker was awarded an OBE for services to business and the environment. He tweeted that he was shocked and hugely honoured” to be recognised.

Vadera, who is both chief executive of The Fragrance Shop and Per-Scent, was awarded an MBE for services to international trade.

Vadera said: “I’m very proud to have received this honour, particularly in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year. It’s a reflection of all the hard work that my family and all the colleagues we work with have put into the business over the years.

“It’s very satisfying to know we have made a valuable contribution to the economy and I’m also very proud that we’ve been able to share in that success and support wonderful children’s charities such as Rays of Sunshine through our Spray a Little Happiness Foundation.”

Elsewhere, Waterstones boss and Daunt Books founder James Daunt has been awarded a CBE for services to publishing, whilst Farfetch chief customer officer Stephanie Phair, who is also chair of the British Fashion Council, was honoured for her services to fashion and technology.

Scott Weavers-Wright, co-founder of Kiddiecare.com, was awarded an OBE for his services to technology and retail ecommerce entrepreneurship.

Since selling Kiddicare.com to Morrisons for £70million, Weavers-Wright has created investment firm Haatch Brand, which has made more than 82 investments in digital firms.

Stella McCartney was also made a CBE in recognition of her services to fashion and sustainability.
