John Lewis launches early Black Friday sale to help spread cost of Christmas

John Lewis has launched its Black Friday event to help shoppers spread the cost of Christmas.

The retailer will also be hiring 2,000 temporary colleagues in its shops and 4,000 staff across its distribution network to support the busy Black Friday and Christmas period.

John Lewis said the Black Friday Sale has been launched earlier than previous years as customers are eager to start Christmas shopping earlier to help manage the cost of the festive period.

Items from technology and fragrance ranges, with other categories including home, fashion and beauty, will be available in the sale.

Many of the Black Friday offers will run up to and include 1 December 2022, although specific offers may end pre or post this date.

Customers will have the option of paying monthly interest-free instalments for selected items over £500, when they order in-store, online or via the app.

In addition, customers can receive free delivery on orders over £50, or benefit from the ease of collecting their John Lewis parcels from one of many click-and-collect points, including Booths, Co-op, Shell as well as Waitrose and John Lewis shops.

John Lewis introduced our Christmas returns policy earlier this year – allowing customers to buy from September and still exchange or return unwanted gifts after the festive season – up until 28 January 2023.

“We’re launching Black Friday earlier than ever this year, with hundreds of fantastic deals to support customers looking to save money and start their Christmas shopping early,” John Lewis commercial director, Kathleen Mitchell said.

“We know that, despite the rising cost of living, our customers still want to celebrate Christmas, so our teams and suppliers have worked incredibly hard to make sure we can offer our customers great value deals on the products they love.

“With new deals being launched daily, we’d encourage shoppers to keep an eye on our website and shops over the coming weeks, so they don’t miss out.”
