Asos taps Google exec for board role

Asos has named Google’s Global Vice President of Ads Marketing, Marie Gulin-Merle as a non-executive director as it looks to strengthen its board.

Marie has over 20 years of experience in marketing and digital transformation, working in technology, beauty and fashion.

Currently leading all marketing activities for Google‘s Ads business, she previously held various executive positions such as chief marketing officer of Calvin Klein, chief digital officer of PVH and group CMO of L’Oreal USA.

Marie will join the online fashion giant‘s board on 1 February 1 2023 and will serve on the Remuneration Committee, amongst others.

Asos chairman Jørgen Lindemann said: “On behalf of the Board, I want to welcome Marie to Asos. Marie joins us with a depth of relevant industry knowledge across international ecommerce, marketing, beauty and brands. The Board will greatly benefit from Marie’s expertise, and we look forward to working closely with her.”

This appointment comes just a week after the retailer named former Amazon exec Wei Gao as a non-executive director and member of the audit committee.

Wei was previously chief operating officer at the online hosting platform Hopin and before that spent 16 years at Amazon in senior ecommerce and data roles, including as vice president of grocery tech, product and supply chain, and as technical advisor to the CEO.
