Frasers plan to merge Studio Retail and Missguided sparks job fears

Frasers Group is planning to merge Studio Retail with etail stablemates Missguided and I Saw It First, which has sparked redundancy fears at the firm.

Studio Retail chief executive Paul Kendrick sent a letter to staff outlining Frasers Group’s plans to merge the businesses, which he said would result in “significant cost efficiencies”.

He said the retailer would “benefit from the longer-term group investments in technology by working on a shared platform”.

According to LancsLive, the change is understood to involve moving the I Saw It First and Missguided business operations to a single structure under Studio Retail, covering all labels and brands.

Hyndburn MPs Sara Britcliffe and Graham Jones, as well as trade union USDAW are now working to try and stop redundancies at the company.

USDAW area organiser Julia Baldwin said: “It is extremely disappointing that, after last year’s large-scale restructuring, the company has again announced further changes affecting mainly the same staff”.

Back in July, Frasers Group revealed it would be cutting more than 100 roles in its Manchester head office as it looked to streamline the business.
