In pictures: M&S opens Liverpool One store

Marks & Spencer has opened the doors to its newly-relocated 70,000 sq ft Liverpool store after relocating its Church Street location, creating over 70 new jobs.

The two floor store in the former Debenhams retail unit on South John Street. The store is around 70% smaller than the 250,000 sq ft space that it traded from on Church Street.

M&S Liverpool One reflects the department store’s significant investment in the city’s economy and it is one of the first of 20 new M&S stores due to open across the country this year.

Inside houses a café, clothing and home departments as well as a Foodhall with a Coffee To Go section, Food To Go aisle and in-store bakery.

The relocation is part of the retail giant’s strategy to create a store estate fit for the future.

As part of the move, it is installing 900 electric vehicle charging points to 70 stores.

“We are thrilled to officially open our brand new store in Liverpool One today,” store manager Kirsty Williams said.

“The last few weeks have been so exciting for us all as we’ve seen the store take shape, and I’d like to thank everyone in the team for all their hard work to make sure everything is ready for our loyal customers today.”

Williams added: “Along with our existing Liverpool team of 250 colleagues, we’re really pleased to introduce over 70 new recruits to M&S Liverpool One, who can’t wait to meet everyone.”
