Frasers mulls Wiggle rescue bid after bike retailer’s collapse

Frasers Group is among the business circling online bike retailer Wiggle, which fell into administration earlier this week.

The Mike Ashley founded retail powerhouse, which owns Sports Direct, House of Fraser, Evans Cycles and more is one of the front-runners to snap up Wiggle, Sky News reports.

Frasers has been on an acquisition spree in recent months, snapping up German retail chain SportScheck from Wiggle’s owners, Signa Sports United (SSU) last as well as boosting its stake in Boohoo.

Wiggle employs about 450 people, and is continuing to trade during the administration process with FRP Advisory handling the insolvency.

Besides owning Evans Cycles, Frasers Group bought online cycling retailer ProBikeKit earlier this year.

Frasers has been on in acquisition mode  throughout 2023 picking up stakes in electricals giant Curry’s, its online counterpart AO World and Asos.
