Aldi has opened applications for 500 apprenticeship roles, with positions available in stores and warehouses across the UK.

The discounter’s apprentices will start earning from day one, as they work towards industry-recognised qualifications, Aldi said.

Store apprentices will begin with a wage of £12.02 per hour, rising to £13.35. Those working within the M25 will start at £13.22 per hour.

Staff members working in warehouse roles can earn up to £12.63 per hour.

Aldi UK training and development director Lisa Murphy said: “We’ve built a strong track record of helping people launch their careers through our apprenticeship programme, and we’re excited to welcome the next cohort to team Aldi.

“This is a genuine opportunity to learn on the job, build valuable skills and earn market-leading pay – all while working for one of the UK’s biggest grocery retailers.

“We want to hear from people of all backgrounds, so, if you’re interested, we’d really encourage you to apply, whatever your experience.”

The news comes after Aldi revealed plans to boost pay for thousands of staff members earlier this month, as part of a £36m investment in pay and benefits.

From 1 March, starting pay for store assistants at the supermarket will rise to £13.35 per hour nationally, and £14.71 per hour within the M25. Salaries will grow to £14.30 per hour and £15.03 within the M25 based on length of service.

Aldi is also increasing pay rates for store apprentices to £12.02 per hour outside the M25, and to £13.22 per hour inside the M25.
