Jigsaw’s recently appointed retail director Lisa Butler has stepped down from the role just weeks after joining the business, saying the retailer was not the right fit for her to do her “best work”.

Butler confirmed her departure in a LinkedIn post, describing the decision as “not an easy” one.

She said that although she had been “incredibly grateful” for the support surrounding her appointment, she ultimately did not feel the environment was right for her.

“Throughout my career, I have always believed that strong performance and commercial success must go hand in hand with respect, integrity and kindness,” she said.

“These are non-negotiables for me as a leader, and ultimately, I did not feel that the environment was the right fit.”

Her exit comes only weeks after joining Jigsaw, and marks another senior leadership change for the fashion retailer.

Butler had most recently held a short stint at Russell & Bromley, where she served as global retail director after joining in September 2025 as part of the footwear retailer’s turnaround plans.

However, her time there was cut short after the business fell into administration in January and was later acquired by Next.

Prior to that, Butler was global retail director at Trinny London, where she played a key role in scaling the retail arm and overseeing store rollouts across international markets.

She has also held senior leadership roles at SpaceNK and Pandora, managing major store estates and significant revenues, and earlier in her career founded her own independent boutiques.

In her statement, Butler thanked Jigsaw’s retail teams for their “energy, commitment and welcome”, adding that she would now take time to reflect before making her next move.

The departure follows the exit of Jigsaw chief executive Hash Ladha, who resigned in February 2025 after 15 months in the role.
