Evri has appointed Steve Kelly as its new head of returns, as the delivery firm continues to expand its parcel drop-off and locker network across the UK.

Kelly joins from InPost UK, where he served as operations director. He has also held roles at Menzies Distribution, Hermes and Amazon UK.

Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Kelly said: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Head of Returns at Evri.

“Great to be working again in this fast paced business with some familiar colleagues. I look forward to travelling around all the network as I re-connect with the Depot and Hub teams.”

His appointment comes as Evri pushes further into out-of-home delivery and returns, following the launch of its first owned locker network in partnership with Tesco and Motor Fuel Group.

The courier has started rolling out new Evri-branded lockers at a small number of Tesco Extra and Superstore sites as part of a wider locker hub trial.

The Tesco tie-up builds on the retailer’s existing Clubcard partnership with Evri, which allows shoppers to earn one point for every £1 spent on parcels sent through the delivery firm.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We’re constantly looking for ways to make the shopping trip even more convenient for our customers, and as part of a small locker hub partner trial across a small number of stores, where we are bringing a number of providers together, we’re pleased to introduce Evri lockers across a selected small number of stores.”

Evri has also struck a nationwide partnership with Motor Fuel Group, which will see 500 lockers installed at forecourts across the UK.

The MFG rollout began earlier this year and will continue through spring, with many of the sites also home to retail brands including Morrisons Daily, Subway and Starbucks.

The lockers offer parcel pick-up and drop-off, contact-free use, QR code access and print-at-locker functionality.

Evri said the rollout builds on its existing network of more than 11,000 ParcelShops and lockers across the UK, including services in Post Office branches and Asda stores.

The business has committed £50m to more than doubling its ParcelShop and locker estate by 2030. It has partnered with Bloq.it on the development of the new lockers and has commissioned at least 1,000 units.

Henry Cartwright, Evri director of out of home said the Tesco and MFG partnerships would give customers more choice in how they send, receive and return parcels.

“Evri’s own data shows that customers value convenience when it comes to deliveries, so with Tesco stores and Motor Fuel Group forecourts at the heart of so many communities, there will be easy access to Evri services alongside filling up or picking up essentials,” he said.

A Motor Fuel Group spokesperson said the partnership would give customers greater flexibility to send, collect and return parcels as part of their regular routines, while strengthening the role of forecourts in local communities.
