Debenhams Group has today (15 September) completed the sale of the Nasty Gal brand, including its global intellectual property rights, to WSG Brands for £12m ($16m).
The disposal of the fashion brand forms part of Debenhams Group’s strategy to transition towards a capital-light, marketplace-led business model and follows the £90m sale of its Sheffield Distribution Centre to Primark last week.
Debenhams Group described Nasty Gal, which generated £12m in gross merchandise value (GMV) and £0.4m in adjusted EBITDA in FY26, as “non-core” and “not material” to the business.

Shoppers visiting the clothing brand’s website are now met with a message that reads: “Something new is coming. Watch this space.
“We’re working on the next chapter. Follow us for the first look — you’ll hear it here first.”
White Space Group New York LLC, which operates as WSG Brands, has a portfolio that includes the American Y2K brand, Von Dutch, acquired in July 2024.
The deal marks the latest move by Debenhams Group chief executive Dan Finley to streamline the business and strengthen its balance sheet as its turnaround continues.
“Our turnaround continues at pace,” Finley said. “The disposal of this non-core asset aligns with our strategy and further strengthens the balance sheet following the £90m sale of our Sheffield Distribution Centre.”
