Westfield Stratford City has recorded its strongest visitor performance since its launch ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games, as it marks its 15-year anniversary.
The shopping centre saw 53.4 million annual visits and a record 5.22 million visits in July, representing its busiest month since opening.
Earlier in the summer, the destination also recorded 1.3 million visits in a single week, while 27 June saw 276,000 visits, its busiest trading day in more than a decade.
The milestone comes as the Westfield brand has expanded to three UK destinations, following the recent rebrand of St James Quarter to Westfield St James Quarter.
URW managing director, customer and retail operations, Northern Europe, Katie Wyle said: “Westfield Stratford City has been part of Stratford’s story for 15 years, and this anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate not only how far the destination has come, but the people who have helped shape it along the way.
“From our retailers and partners to our colleagues and the communities around us, so many people have played a role in making it what it is today.
“Welcoming 53.4 million visits over the past year is a fantastic milestone, and we’re excited to continue investing in Stratford and creating new reasons for people to visit, work and spend time here for many years to come.”
Deputy mayor of London for business and growth Howard Dawber, added: “Stratford has undergone an extraordinary transformation over the past 15 years, becoming one of London’s most dynamic places to live, work and do business.
“That success has been driven by the strength of its local economy, from major employers and retailers to the small businesses and cultural organisations that give the area its distinctive character.
“Westfield Stratford City has played an important role in that transformation, helping to attract investment, create local jobs and bring millions of visitors to the area.”
