Fashion retailer Boden has announced plans to open two new UK stores in 2017 as well as expand to China, despite a fall in profits in its last annual trading update.

The London-based business – which primarily sells online and has markets in the US, Germany and Australia – already has one bricks and mortar store in the capital‘s Hangar Lane.

The retailer now plans to open another two shops in 2017, but the locations have not yet been revealed.

Boden will also launch in China via Tmall this month, first off with its children‘s Mini Boden range.

In addition, there are plans for Boden to launch in the Next Label catalogue this season.

In its annual report for the year to December 31, 2015, Boden recorded a slide in pre-tax profits £23.9 million compared to £32 million the previous year.

However, sales increased from £280.7 million to £283 million in the same period.

“2016 has seen improved growth in new customers and the start of a major capital programme with the construction of a new warehouse in Leicester,” Boden chief executive Julian Granville said.
