C-store specialist Spar and Iceland Foods have agreed an exclusive convenience retail partnership.

The collaboration is designed to “significantly enhance the appeal of frozen food sections” in Spar’s convenience stores “by adding depth to the range”.

Iceland exclusive brands such as Slimming World, Harry Ramsden’s, TGI Friday’s, and Myprotein will be made available in Spar’s stores alongside Iceland own label products and Greggs.

Three of Spar UK’s wholesalers and distributors – CJ Lang & Son, James Hall & Co, and A. F. Blakemore & Son – are behind the collaboration.

The tie-up could enable the number of Spar stores across England, Scotland and Wales that stock hundreds of Iceland’s frozen products to rise to almost 2,000 over the coming months, up from the 320 Spar stores at present.

The frozen food range will land in Spar stores with categories the convenience giant is known for, including fresh foods and food to go alongside ambient products and beers, wines, and spirits.

The partnership means that four family-owned businesses are working together “to deliver greater accessibility to an improved choice of quality meal solutions”.

Iceland Foods director of Iceland international and UK partnerships Justin Addison said: “This expansion is a key part of our mission to make Iceland products more accessible to customers wherever they shop.

“Partnering with CJ Lang, James Hall, and A. F. Blakemore to expand the offering of Iceland’s frozen food range in Spar stores across the UK allows us to bring our value and quality to local communities in a way that’s fast, flexible and customer focused.”
