The president of US retailer Banana Republic is poised to leave her position in February.

The struggling fashion chain, which recently closed down all eight of its UK shops, will bid farewell to Andi Owen who has been with the company since 1991.

Chief executive Art Peck will assume the interim role as a success is sought.

“During her time with Banana Republic, Andi led critical work improving the brand‘s aesthetic and product quality and moved the brand to a full omnichannel assortment,” Peck said.

“While these improvements have been important steps forward, we have significant work to do in order to consistently win with customers.”

Banana Republic is part of the Gap portfolio of brands.
