Sainsbury’s hires “trend spotters” to lift its clothing range

Sainsbury‘s has enlisted the help of 30 “trend spotters” in an attempt to boost growth in its clothing arm.

According to This Is Money, the grocer has appointed a new team tasked with travelling to top fashion destinations like Japan and New York, spotting trends and bringing them back to inspire its UK design teams.

This is the latest move by the retailer to strengthen its clothing line, after the launch of its premium range Tu last year. Two items from its new team are already on sale in its Pisa range, inspired by the Italian Riviera.

The retailers clothing arm is pushing the £1 billion revenue mark and has been one of the best performing sectors in recent months. It is now the sixth biggest clothing retailer in the UK.
