Cheap Monday has promoted its head of denim Carl Malmgren to replace its  outgoing creative director of eight years Ann-Sofie Back.

The Swedish denim retailer, bought by H&M in 2008, has announced that Malmgren will now act as a “full time creative leader”.

He has been with the company since its inception in 2004 and already works closely alongside Cheap Monday‘s founder Örjan Andersson.

“At the beginning of 2017 the need for a full time creative leader surfaced and the decision to appoint Mr Malmgren was a natural choice,” the retailer said.

“We very much looking forward to taking the next step in its global presence and developing its branding through this new set up.”

Back added: “It is with sadness that I leave the Cheap Monday team that I have worked with so closely for such a long time but Mr Malmgren will be a more suitable candidate for the role as the brand now evolves.”

The denim brand currently trades in over 35 countries with 3000 stores worldwide, including its flagship in London‘s iconic Carnaby Street.
