Ted Baker has hired Esprit executive Jason Beckley as chief customer, marketing and digital officer.

Beckley, who joins the retailer today, will lead brand, marketing, customer and digital as Ted Baker pushes ahead with its transformation plan.

The fashion retailer had been in turnaround mode prior to the pandemic after it was hit by operational issues and scandals, which forced founder Ray Kelvin to exit the business.  However, lockdown has hampered its efforts and pre-tax losses swelled to £107.7 million in its last financial year, from a loss of £77.6 million the year prior.

Beckley was interim chief marketing officer at Esprit and has held marketing and brand strategy roles for high profile brands including Ralph Lauren, Alexander McQueen, Clarks and Jack Wills in the past.

Ted Baker chief executive Rachel Osborne said: “Refreshing and re-energising the Ted Baker brand is a key part of our growth strategy. We are excited to welcome Jason to our executive team, where his extensive experience will be invaluable as we continue to progress with the turnaround of this great global lifestyle brand.”
