The Body Shop’s new owner snaps up Charles Tyrwhitt’s David Boynton as new CEO

The new parent company of The Body Shop has announced David Boynton as its new chief executive.

His appointment is in line with the new governance and management structure being implemented since Natura Group took over the ethical British beauty retailer earlier this month.

Boynton will move to The Body Shop from menswear retailer Charles Tyrwhitt, where he is currently chief executive.

Prior to  Charles Tyrwhitt, Boynton’s career was centred around cosmetics and beauty, and he has been credited for helping build and expand L‘Occitane during a period of rapid growth and global success.

Boynton started his career in the grocery sector before moving to AS Watson, the largest health and beauty retail company in Asia and the parent company of Superdrug and The Perfume Shop.

He will step into his new role at The Body Shop on December 4.

“I am delighted to be joining The Body Shop at this exciting time as it becomes part of the Natura family,” Boynton said in a statement.

“I have admired both companies from afar for years and it is truly a great match, bringing together two values-driven beauty businesses with a passion for the preservation of the natural world and respect for people and communities.”

Brazilian firm Natura is working towards its goal of becoming a global company that brings together three cosmetics brands Natura, Aesop and The Body Shop.

The combination is expected to result in pro forma retail revenues of $6 billion (£4.4 billion), EBITDA of $467 million (£348.5 million), an EBITDA margin of 14 per cent, over 18,000 employees and a presence in 69 countries.
