Former Topshop trading director James Mooney moves to Primark

Former Topshop/Topman trading director James Mooney has commenced a new chapter in his career as the new merchandising director for Primark.

Mooney, who left the Arcadia Group-owned fashion retailer last April amid an exodus of senior figures, reportedly started with Primark last week on January 15.

He is now based at Primark’s head office in Dublin, where he will be responsbile for leading merchandising for womenswear across the Republic of Ireland, southern Europe and the US.

Mooney brings years of international experience to Primark having previously held a number of senior merchandising roles at Arcadia Group.

He started his career at Sir Philip Green retail giant in 2007, as head of merchandising for Burton menswear.

Mooney was appointed trading director of Topshop/Topman in 2014, after five years as merchandising director for the same chain.
