Pep&Co managing and trading directors quit

Steinhoff-owned budget fashion retailer Pep&Co has announced the departures of its managing and trading director over the coming months.

Adrian Mountford, who has served as managing director at Pep&Co since 2014, will leave in May alongside current trading director Cathy Haydon who has also served at the retailer for four years.

Prior to his current role, Mountford served as commercial director at Matalan, following stints as business unit directors at Sainsbury’s and buying director at BHS.

Cathy Haydon served as head of merchandising at M&S for five years, after leading clothing at Tesco and acting as merchandise director at BHS.

The pair will leave after the launch of 150 store-in-store openings in Poundland stores across the UK.

“It goes without saying we’ll miss them both, but I also know we’ll continue to grow as we become a fashion retailer and not skip a beat,” Pep&Co’s chief operating officer Sean Cardinaal said.

It comes as Steinhoff continues to deal with its accounting scandal, which recently saw former chief executive Markus Joost being handed to South African police as the company secures short-term funding to keep it afloat.
