Value-retailer Primark has appointed Topshop and Topman’s global sourcing director Jon Bennett as its new trading director for menswear, according to Drapers.

Counting senior buying roles at Tesco’s F&F, Next and River Island in his experience, Bennett most recently worked at Arcadia Group, joining Philip Green’s retail empire in 2012.

Bennett will arrive at Primark in the next few months and replace Lynne Walker, who will move over to director of Primark Cares, the company’s sustainability initiative.

“We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Jon Bennett, who will join the business as trading director for menswear. Jon brings extensive buying, sourcing and digital expertise,” said a Primark spokesperson to Drapers.

“We are also delighted to confirm the appointment of Lynne Walker to a new role as director of Primark Cares. In her new role, Lynne will lead our Primark Cares strategy and oversee its successful development,” the spokesperson added.

The appointments come after Primark owner AB Foods issued an encouraging sales update in September, stating that the retailer managed to beat expectations over the past quarter after exiting lockdown and reopening its stores.

AB Foods told investors last month that Primark sales have been “reassuring and encouraging” since stores welcomed customers again in June in England, and May and July in other territories.
