Designer outlet group McArthurGlen has appointed Radley & Co CEO Sven Gaede to the newly created post of Retail Development Director, it has been announced.

Based at the group‘s head office in London, Gaede will report to McArthurGlen‘s Chief Operating Officer Stephane Labelle, focusing on the development of the corporate retail strategy in conjunction with other senior figures.

Prior to his work with Radeley & Co, Gaede worked at luxury goods company Richemont, operating as Interim CEO of Net-a-Porter, Chief Commercial officer at Dunhill and CEO of Hackett and held a senior position ay Marks and Spencer.

Labelle commented: “Sven brings a wealth of retail experience working in key positions for some of the world‘s most sought-after luxury brands.

“The creation of this new position will continue to strengthen our management and retail teams, and enable us to focus on our top priority of delivering a unique, top-class retail proposition for our brand partners and for the many millions of consumers who visit our centres across Europe each year.”

McArthurGlen is focusing on expansion following strong financial results in recent monthsand is currently in the development or planning stages with almost 200,000 sq of new retail space.

Five existing centres are set for extensions while the 21st McArthurGlen Designer Outlet opened near Hamburg last month as a further four centres in the planning stages including the group‘s first non-European centre in Vancouver, Canada.

Gaede‘s varied retail experience, which also saw him work at Gap in the US and UK as Business Development Director and then Finance Director, will stand him in good stead to lead the company‘s expansion programme during a period of growth.
