Fashion e-tailer Asos has teamed up with Primark to offer the fast fashion retailer an online presence, it has been announced today.

With all items priced at £25 or less, the move hopes to offer affordable fashion in a convenient way which appeals to tech-savvy shoppers keen to capitalise on the speed of online shopping and delivery.

Showcased on the Asos site from today, the debut collection offers summer staples such as dresses, denims and T-shirts and seeks to fit in alongside the e-tailer‘s other youth fashion brands.

Commenting on the new launch, Asos said: “As an online fashion destination, Asos delivers an edit of the brands and product that are relevant to its twenty-something target market.

“Primark is part of that mix. As such, a small selection of Primark‘s most fashion-led pieces are available on Asos from today.”

Asos is increasingly the primary destination for fashion-hungry young people and recently reported a 19 per cent jump in pre-tax profit in its first half to £25.7 million, boosted by international growth while Primark today announced its intention to begin expansion into the French market amid growing sales.

A Primark spokesperson said of the new partnership: “Primark is undertaking a very limited trial of online sales with Asos.

“This trial relates to a small number of fashion items and will give the company some insight into online retailing.

“The company‘s priority remains to push ahead with the roll-out of physical stores in high street locations on the continent and in the UK.”
