Twitter has seen many wonderful failures from big brands and campaigns, from poor Susan Boyle‘s album party #susanalbumparty to the torrent of unforeseen responses to #McDstories.
Our favourite Twitter anomaly however is @johnlewis. You‘d be forgiven for thinking this was the Twitter account of the UK‘s much loved department store, as most of Twitter have made the same mistake.
In fact, this John Lewis is a “Computer science educator, father of four, social liberal, atheist, and not a retail store.”
Facing a daily tirade of abuse, praise and general enquiries directed at @johnlewisretail, Mr Lewis provides some of the internet‘s driest and wittiest responses. Here are a few of our favourites…
.@trevor4950 Thank you! Truth be told though, I look good anywhere. @johnlewisretail

.@HilaryHolden The “monstrosity” next to me is my wife, thank you very much. Twitter can be so harsh. @johnlewisretail

.@NikHunt_ @dragonjones I pay him $25 every week to mow my lawn. @johnlewisretail
