Clarks is set to review its property portfolio as part of plans by chief executive Mike Shearwood to modernise its shops.

The shoe retailer has appointed agents at Harper Dennis Hobbs to conduct the review, and their task is to ensure all stores are the right size and in the right locations.

As part of the review process, Clarks landlords will be contacted by Harper Dennis Hobbs whereby they will share with them direction and vision of the retailer.

The review and consultation process will also make sure commercial terms are mutually beneficial.

“I am pleased to be working with Harper Dennis Hobbs to ensure that we have the best possible property portfolio that meets our status as a desired retailer that delivers profit in locations where others can‘t,” Shearwood said.

“Over the past 12 months we have begun a process of transforming our brand with a simple statement – ‘the shoe is the star‘.

“We are excited and looking forward to sharing our plans with landlords and working in partnership with them to explain the value that the Clarks brand can bring to their locations across the country.”
