Hammerson, the owner of Brent Cross Shopping Centre, is rolling out a new app set to redefine the shopper’s experience at the location.

The FindSimilar app works by allowing users to take or upload pictures of an item of clothing they love, then searching through a database of thousands of items and finding the exact or similar items stocked in the shopping centre.

Once the user has picked an item they want to explore, the app provides a map taking them directly to where they can buy it.

Having completed its beta trial, this is the first-time imaging functionality has been used to search for products.

With a 90 per cent positive feedback rating, the app may now be rolled out across Hammerson‘s shopping centre estate.

“We are delighted to have completed this beta trial with Hammerson,” said Iain McCready, the chief execytive of Cortexica, the firm that produced the app for Hammerson.

“The application of our technology to a shopping centre environment is the first of its kind and is tangibly enhancing the consumer experience.

“This partnership marks another step in the development of our image recognition technology across different applications and verticals, as businesses in a range of sectors look to AI solutions in order to improve customer service and boost operational efficiency.”
