Shop Direct luxury director Sarah Curran resigns

The person responsible for driving the launch of premium online retailer Very Exclusive has resigned from her position after three years.

According to Drapers, Sarah Curran is leaving Very’s parent company Shop Direct, where she has been luxury director since she joined in December 2013.

The co-founder of the now-ceased online retailer My-Wardrobe joined Shop Direct to spearhead its premium fashion and beauty offer.

She also became managing director of Very Exclusive in August 2014, a few months before the launch of that online fascia for Shop Direct in February 2015.

Very now stocks more than 100 fashion, beauty and accessories brands.

Curran’s next step is not yet known, with Drapers reporting she is exploring options.

She told the publication that she resigned because she felt her ambitions to “democratise luxury” has been achieved with Very.

“I‘ve loved my time at Shop Direct and couldn‘t be prouder of what we‘ve built with Very Exclusive,” Curran told Drapers.

Shop Direct chief executive Alex Baldock said she was leaving a “legacy”.

“Sarah‘s track record and expertise in luxury were the reasons we brought her into the business and she‘s lived up to our expectations and more with what she‘s achieved,” Baldock told Drapers.

“Very Exclusive has performed ahead of our expectations since day one and we‘re confident we can build on that success.”
