Retail Gazette Loves: Star Wars’ Find the Force Game

In preparation for this year‘s Star Wars installment The Last Jedi, Disney has announced the launch of a huge AR treasure hunt where fans can bring characters to life via their smartphones.

The Pokemon Go style game will take place at 20,000 retail locations across 30 countries and will coincide with the release of new merchandise released on Friday September 1 or “Force Friday 2”.

It will be active from “Force Friday” until September 3 and allows anyone with the Star Wars app to scan a Find the Force logo and view life size animated holograms of characters, from fan favorites to brand new additions.

Shoppers can pose alongside the characters, which will change from day to day at different locations eventually revealing all 15.

“Force  Friday  II puts fans right at the center of the action using augmented reality to bring our characters to life like never before,” Disney‘s consumer products and interactive media chairman Jimmy Pitaro said.

“The technology theme continues in the  Star Wars: The Last Jedi  product line, which is our most innovative yet – we can‘t wait for fans to see what‘s in store.”
